Learn more about cover crop selection, spring agronomy, cover crop pest management and more at a real world cover crop meeting on February 2. The meeting, to be held at Whiterock Conservancy, 1436 Highway 141, Coon Rapids, from 9AM-1PM includes three in person speakers, a webinar and a free lunch with the opportunity to ask panelists questions.

This meeting will provide real world cover crop education for farmers considering cover crops, questions about spring agronomy, and advanced scouting programs for agronomists concerned with potential impacts of cover crops on cash crops.

The three in-person sessions include: the state of cover crops and small grains in Iowa with Sarah Carlson (Practical Farmers of Iowa); a review spring agronomy with cover crops by Jason Nees (agronomist with Axis Seed); and cover crop selection with Bill Fredericks (Iowa Cover Crops). At 11AM, an American Society of Agronomy webinar series episode sponsored by North Central Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE), will feature Dr. Eileen Kladivko (Purdue University) and Chris Teachout (Iowa farmer) and address cover crops in real word conditions as well as pest management coupled with scouting indicators. We will conclude with a free lunch and a panel that will address your follow up questions from the live sessions or the webinar.
