Trails, Land Management, Communication and Website

Land Management Intern/ Summer Position

$12 per hour and housing

Seasonal duties: Whiterock Conservancy is a non-profit land trust. Interested candidates can expect a great deal of variability in tasks. The primary tasks include running equipment or handling goats for ecological restoration, mowing, weed eating, trail maintenance, working with small groups, supervising conservation corps volunteer work projects, native habitat restoration, seed collecting, and various other duties. Must be willing to learn to run chainsaws- previous experience is a bonus. Must be willing to work weekends. Housing will be available, no pets and no smoking allowed. Other benefits include kayaking down the Middle Raccoon River, watching fledged eagles in flight school, and seeing a wide variety of native flora and fauna. Coon Rapids, Iowa is a welcoming community that offers three eating establishments, a grocery store, small town entertainment, four churches, and easy access to Des Moines, Iowa. We have flexible start and end dates but expect a commitment in May- August.

Trails Intern/ Summer Position

The primary tasks include scouting our 40 miles of trails, clearing trees, grooming trails, and problem solving erosion problems. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and be physically fit enough to weed eat and mow trails by hand. Must be willing to learn to run chainsaws- previous experience is a bonus. Must be willing to work weekends and events. Housing will be available, no pets and no smoking allowed. Other benefits include kayaking down the Middle Raccoon River, watching fledged eagles in flight school, and seeing a wide variety of native flora and fauna. Communication Intern Position

$12 per hour and housing

Seasonal duties: Whiterock Conservancy is a non-profit land trust. Interested candidates can expect a great deal of variability in tasks. This position will assist in marketing Whiterock Conservancy and specific events, accommodations and activities on the property. Duties include creating marketing and promotional materials including brochures, newsletters and advertisements, creating and editing website pages, managing social media posts, assisting with event planning and execution, creating advertisements, graphic design. Other duties based on talents and interests are possible. Candidates pursuing a degree in Public Relations, Web Management, Communications, Business, Marketing or another related field strongly preferred. Must be willing to work some weekends and events. Housing will be available, no pets and no smoking allowed.
